CIT Group Bonds
According to CBS MarketWatch.com today, CIT Group agreed to a $3 billion long-term committed financing facility provided by Goldman Sachs Group Inc. The commercial finance company said the move is designed to strengthen its balance sheet and improve and diversify its liquidity and funding. Shares of CIT Group have fallen more than 60% so far this year as the company has faced pressure over its liquidity position and mortgage exposure. The company has been selling assets and raising capital to boost the balance sheet. This positive news.

Deckert Leahy Welcomes John B. Clair as a New Member of Its Advisory Staff
A native Richmonder, John graduated magna cum laude from Virginia Tech in 1997 with a degree in Finance. While at Virginia Tech, he was President of the student-run organization known as SEED where he was responsible for managing a multi-million dollar portion of the university's endowment - the largest organization of its kind in the country. Upon graduation, John was honored as the Finance Student of the Year and with the Outstanding College Service Award.
In 1997, John joined GE Capital, the financial arm of General Electric, and graduated from their Financial Management Program (FMP) in 2000 after various assignments in the US and abroad. John returned to Richmond in 2000 where he joined GE Financial Assurance, which later spun-off from GE to become Genworth Financial in 2004.
Prior to joining Deckert Leahy, John spent seven years within Finance and Marketing divisions at Genworth.
John has completed the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) program and passed the CFP Board of Standards exam.
John also holds Life, Health, & Annuities licenses for the State of Virginia.
He enjoys serving on the boards of two local non-profit organizations: The Capital Area Health Network (formerly known as Vernon J. Harris East End Community Health Center) and the Johns Cancer Foundation.
John currently resides in Midlothian with his wife, Jen. In his spare time, John enjoys traveling, soccer, military history, and all things James Bond.
